Lights in the Home Office

save energy on home office lights

Do I need an additional light on my desk? That depends on the amount of light or lumens you are getting at the "task" site.
(Task means the light level upon your desk where you are working)

The bottom line is: If you feel you need more light, then yes you need more light.

Search out desk top lamps or fixtures that use energy saving light bulbs and have built in motion sensors, so when you leave your desk for a pre-set period of time, your desk light will shut off automatically. Once you come back to your desk the light will come back on.

We all have to light up our office space, but what is the best way? Well, this is a subject on its own and there are many types of questions. Below are just a few:

Do I need a light on my desk or just in the ceiling? What kind of light bulbs should I use? How much do these energy saving bulbs really save? What lighting layout design should I go with? What light distribution pattern is best? How do windows help save with infrared motion sensor light switches? What is Color Rendering Index? How do I avoid reflection and glare on my computer screen from the lights? What wattage do I need?

The questions are numerous and the answers vary for every office space. Please plan time to visit our Lighting Section so that you may read about all these topics and more.
