Watchdog in Action:
7.) THIS IS A WINNER: If you have an older model, you may have an Energy Saving Switch inside the refrigerator.
If this switch is not used right, it will raise your electric bill.
We are not talking about temperature or thermostat controls.
This switch will say ON and OFF to save energy.
Now everyone would think to use this Energy Saving Switch you have to turn it ON to save energy... WRONG!
To SAVE Energy you have to turn this Energy Saving Switch OFF! (Please confirm this with your model by reading the fine print on the label next to your switch)
WHY? Because the refrigerator has an electric heater (heating wires) embedded within and around the frame of the Freezer and Refrigerator doors. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? A heater inside the walls of a Refrigerator and Freezer.
Why would anyone come up with this idea?
Oh, to "burn off" moisture condensing on the surface and perimeter of the doors during hot, muggy, summer months.
WOW! Just a Brilliant design. Put an electric heater in a device that is trying to make things cold!
So by turning the Energy Saving Switch to OFF you are actually turning OFF the electric heater in the doors and turning ON the Energy Savings.
Oh, but what if my model builds up a great deal of moisture and condenses all around the doors and drips and...?
Stop opening your doors so many times, pull the shade down on the window if sunlight is on the unit and just wipe the perimeter dry with a Dish Towel !
