PRAISE AND FEEDBACK

2009
Dear Bill Lauto,

On behalf of everyone at Alley Pond Environmental Center we sincerely thank you for your contribution to Focus the Nation 2009 on April 23rd as a panel member. It was an amazing evening and it wouldn't have been nearly as successful without you! So many people left the event really thinking about the plan and the issues involved. Your knowledge, ideas, and opinions of PlaNYC 2030 and how we're going to create a sustainable city over the next several decades were incredibly valuable.

Thank you so much,
Alley Pond Environmental Center

Dear Energy Hot Wire,

We live in a highrise co-op building in New York. Three years ago the co-op replaced all of the residents fuse boxes with electric meters and we started paying for our own electric bill since then. We contacted your website for suggestions on saving energy and consequently lowering our monthly bill. With your help, we are now paying between $27 and $35 monthly, while neighbors with same size apartments are paying $80 to $90 monthly.

Thank you for your insight on light bulbs and electric appliances. We are glad we became members of your website and look forward to lowering our electric bill even more.

Sincerely,
The M--- family

Dear Bill,

Thank you for your fantastic presentation at the Manhasset library for North Shore Audubon. I had such positive feedback from our members and I believe you gave them enough information to actually make a change. Even my husband, the electrician, learned a thing or two. Thank you especially for coming out under such a stressful time.

Wish you peace and happiness in the coming year.

Bill,

Thanks for the quick response. I found out about these energy saving bulbs towards the end of last month when I found them at the local Saveway store. I wish I had known about your website sooner, I would have saved myself about $40 to $50 bucks or more and had better bulbs too. I think I'm going to buy the case and take them out to my cabin over on ----- island here in Alaska.

Hello,

My name is Perry... I live in ----- Alaska. I recently purchased a 15 watt bulb from your company and I am interested in purchasing more. Your online catalog shows that you have a case of 12 15 watt twist bulbs for sale. I would like to know what would be the lowest possible cost with shipping charges to Alaska.

Best regards, Perry

Hello LightBulb Hotline:***

Thank you for all your data, insight, and socking truths over the phone on energy topics, especially with lighting our new house. After changing all the light bulbs in our new house, our electric bill is now almost 50% less than what it was. Amazing!

Dear Bill,

First of all, we want to thank you for participating in the Solar Brigade. Then we want to give you an update on how the campaign is going.

Features about the Solar Brigade have appeared in many newspapers, as well as Audubon Magazine, Audubon Activist, Country Living, Lear's, Elle, Good Housekeeping, and E Magazine. So far we have 7,400 participants and we would like to reach 10,000. Along with celebrity endorsements we can get utility companies to notice.

We need to keep up the pace. Together we have a chance to bring our country closer to a sustainable energy policy.

Sincerely yours,
Jan Beyea & Valerie Harms

Dear Mr. Lauto:

Thank you for agreeing to participate in The League of Women Voters community information meeting, to be held at the main branch of the Great Neck Library, Tuesday evening, April 28, 1992.

Your demonstration of actual energy conservative lighting will be most helpful, especially demonstrations of actual practical things people can immediately do in their own homes such as replacing outdoor lighting and hall lights that burn continuously as well as general energy saving ideas.

If you need any audio visual aide equipment, please let me know. The library is very well equipped.

Thank you again for your help.

Sincerely,
Shirley Siegal; Co-President

Dear Bill Lauto:

Thank you for your participation in last year's coalition to promote National Energy Awareness Month (NEAM) in downstate New York. This past year has seen increased public sensitivity to energy issues as a result of growing concern for the environment and heightened awareness of our country's problematic dependence on foreign oil. You constitute a crucial link to the public as an energy educator and we hope that you will again speak at events this year.

Sincerely,
Matt Brennan
Project Co-Director

Dear Bill,

Thank you for your appearance in the Pre-Earth Day Celebration held at FIT on April 19, 1990.

The information and demonstration you presented about lighting stirred the curiosity in all the students that were fortunate to be present.

I only wish every student would have been able to witness the material you presented.

Once again, many thanks and continued success.

Sincerely,

Dear Bill,

Thanks, in part, to your participation in Earth Day 1990, New York City was the scene of the most successful environmental event in history. Without your help and the grassroots activity of thousands of volunteers, we could not have organized such a victory.

With a total attendance registering at over 1.5 million, it is clear that public concern over the future of our planet has reached new heights.

Thank you again for your continued support and commitment to a cleaner, healthier environment for ourselves - and especially for our children.

Sincerely,
Pamela Lippe

News Release (excerpts)
City of New York Consumer Affairs
Mark Green Commissioner

Mark Green Lights Giant Replica Of Most Energy Efficient Lightbulb To Open Week Long Earth Day Events

Consumer Affairs Commissioner Mark Green switched on a six foot replica of the most energy efficient lightbulb today to help kick off a week of Earth Day events in New York City, culminating on Earth Day, April 22. Joined by New York City Earth Day Executive Director Pamela Lippe and Lighting expert and energy consultant Bill Lauto, Green asked, "Why does the United States use twice the per capita energy as Japan and West Germany with standards of living comparable to ours?"

Lippe, who for the past five months has been directing New York City's planned Earth Day events, pointed out that lighting efficiency would lessen the demand for more power plants.

Bill Lauto, a lighting expert and energy consultant, designed and built the six foot replica of the most energy efficient lightbulb lit today and argued that these lighting changes would result in energy saving benefits for the entire economy.

"For example, if we were to switch these lightbulbs for those currently used in homes and commercial buildings in the Boston area, we would save enough electricity to shut down a power plant," said Lauto.

Green added, "This type of technology not only preserves the environment, but the consumer's pocketbook as well. Each one of these energy saving bulbs lasts for 10,000 hours compared to the average life of 750 hours for a conventional bulb. Consumers get what they pay for in these products."

Dear Members,

A coalition of energy groups, organized by the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) Fuel Buyers Group, is sponsoring a series of seminars and events throughout New York City and Long Island in conjunction with Energy Awareness Month.

Energy Awareness Month was established 10 years ago by the U.S. Department of Energy as a way to increase citizen awareness of the need for energy conservation and the more efficient use of energy resources.

B and B Ventures, Inc., a member of the New York State Energy Awareness Month Coalition, will be sponsoring several seminars across New York and Long Island during the month of October for Energy Awareness Month. B and B Ventures, is represented by Bill Lauto, an energy and environmental consultant.

Enclose is an excerpt from the U.S. Department of Energy's 1988 report and a calendar of events for October 1989 will be published the first week of September.

Sincerely,
Anne Harro
